Comics Theory Final Exam Outline

English 26-399
Comics Theory
Final Exam Outline
December 11, 2014
Dr. Dale Jacobs

The final exam will consist of two (2) sections. Each section will be worth 50% of the final exam.

You need to bring An Anthology of Graphic Fiction, Cartoons, and True Stories, Volume 2 to the exam as the comics in the essay questions will be taken from this text. In addition, you are allowed to bring one 8 ½” X 11” sheet of paper on which you can handwrite as much information as you would like.

The first section will have one (1) question that you will answer; that question will ask you to examine one (1) specified comic from An Anthology of Graphic Fiction, Cartoons, and True Stories, Volume 2 using one (1) specified theorist and at least two (2) other theorists.

The second section will have three (3) questions, of which you will answer one (1). These questions will target specific aspects of comics, asking you to apply the appropriate theory from at least two (2) sources to your choice of comics from An Anthology of Graphic Fiction, Cartoons, and True Stories, Volume 2.
